Victoria Findlay Wolfe lecture
This lecture is about the making of a quilt from textiles collected by Artist Stephen Mueller. By looking at Stephen’s paintings for inspiration, I share my approach to examining motifs, pattern, and colors from his work, and creating a one-of-a-kind quilt to honor him. I’ll be showing how I made choices to tell a new story that represents Stephen, yet incorporates what I do as an artist from start to finish. Joining us for a short visit, my husband, Michael Findlay will be sharing background information about Stephen and his work.
I discuss:
- How this project came to me.
- What I was looking at to make my decisions.
- How I chose my color palette and design.
- Using fabrics other than quilting cottons.
- How I move freely in the design, confidently exploring the relationship between inspiration and original design.
- Live chat and Q&A from the live event is included. Additional questions can be asked in the comments forum.
The zoom recording will remain available here for you to re-watch.
